Anyone who follows me here knows how much I love small weddings. And those who know me also know how much I enjoy photographing at the Botanical Garden... I had already shared a wedding photographed here before, and today I’m back with another one—full of the sweetness that comes from gathering just a few friends to celebrate love.
There’s something deeply special about intimate weddings. They strip away the noise and bring everything back to the essence: two people, a few loved ones, meaningful words, and genuine emotion. These weddings allow me to connect more deeply with the couple and their story, to move quietly through the day capturing the little looks, the spontaneous hugs, the shared laughs, and the happy tears. It’s slower, quieter, but also more intense in all the best ways.
Photographing weddings in botanical gardens or any setting surrounded by nature is always a dream for me. The light filtering through the trees, the colors of the leaves, the textures, the flowers—it all adds layers of beauty and emotion to the photographs. Nature has a way of grounding us, of reminding us to breathe and be present. And when a couple chooses such a place to say their vows, it always feels like a reflection of their values—something honest, gentle, and timeless.
This particular wedding was a joy to photograph. Helena is originally from Brazil and now lives in Lisbon, and the celebration brought together guests from both her world and her partner’s. The Brazilian energy was contagious—so many smiles, hugs, and dancing that didn’t seem to stop. It felt like a true cultural exchange, filled with warmth, laughter, and music that carried everyone into the night. These are the kinds of days I never forget—where love crosses borders and joy is shared in many accents.
