There’s something particularly lovely about a morning family photoshoot in Madrid, especially when there’s a little one involved. This family was visiting the city with their 18-month-old baby girl, and we chose Retiro Park for their session so they could combine their photos with a little sightseeing, plenty of time to explore and, most importantly, space for their daughter to simply be a toddler.
Morning sessions work beautifully with young children. They usually have plenty of energy, there are fewer people around the park, and even when the Spanish sun starts getting a little strong, Retiro has plenty of shaded areas where we can slow down and find softer light. This family was incredibly relaxed from the beginning, which made everything feel very natural. We wandered through the park, stopping along the way for plenty of playing, laughing and exploring, and their baby girl made photographing her wonderfully easy.

We passed some of the most recognizable corners of Retiro along the way, making the session feel a little like a walk through Madrid as much as a family photoshoot. We ended our time together at the Rosaleda, which in May was just beginning to burst into bloom. The roses, the beautiful morning light and a very happy little girl made it the perfect place to finish their Madrid family photoshoot.

If you're planning a family trip to Madrid and would love to have some of these moments photographed along the way, get in touch and tell me a little about your plans. I’d love to help you plan a relaxed family photoshoot in Madrid.
