When families visit Madrid, they often go home with a suitcase full of souvenirs — handmade fans from El Rastro, magnets shaped like churros and postcards of the Royal Palace. But let’s be honest… most of those end up forgotten in a drawer, or if they are lucky, they live happily in the fridge's door.
But, the very best souvenir?
A sun-drenched afternoon in Retiro Park, chasing your kids under the trees or feeding the ducks in the pond. Holding hands while walking through the cobbled streets of La Latina. Laughing together as you snack on chocolate churros in a café. And having those beautiful, real moments captured forever by someone who knows this city by heart — a local Madrid photographer.

Why Hiring a Local Madrid Photographer Makes All the Difference
Madrid is a city that comes alive in the in-between moments — the laughter in a narrow street (without crowds), the golden light on a quiet plaza (might be harder during summer, but...), the way your kids play without even realising they’re being photographed (I'm pretty much a pro when it comes to this!). As a local photographer living in Madrid, I do more than just snap pretty photos… I know the rhythm of this city, its hidden gems, and how to tell your story in a way that feels true and beautiful.
Here’s what sets a local photographer apart:

Natural storytelling, not stiff poses

Secret spots over tourist traps
Your family session will feel more like a stroll with a friend than a formal shoot.
I work with families from around the world and know how to help little ones feel relaxed and playful in front of the camera.
I know which streets are quiet at golden hour, which parks bloom in spring, and where to escape the usual crowds.
Best Times of Day & Year for a Photo Session in Madrid
Madrid is photogenic year-round, but if you're visiting with your family, a little planning makes a big difference.
- Golden hour is your best friend — that dreamy, glowy light right before sunset (or after sunrise, if your kids are early risers!)
- Spring (March–May) brings blossoms, green parks, and mild temps.
- Autumn (October–early December) is crisp and cozy with golden trees and fewer crowds.
As a Madrid photographer, I always recommend booking your session during golden hour for the most flattering and magical light.
💡Family Professional Photographer Tip: As I have been photographing families for almost 15 years, I know that babies and younger kids are often way too tired by the end of the day. And in Madrid, golden hour in summer months means that I would start your photo session after 7pm, which might be a bit too late in the day. So I often book family photo sessions early in the morning.
💡Local Madrid Photographer Tip: Summers in the city are extremely hot. So this means that the earlier in the day we can start the better, this will also be great if you have kids. If you are a couple and have more flexibility with the hours, then let's make it during golden hour. People in Madrid have their dinner later in the day anyway, so you won't be late for your favorite restaurant!
