One of the many things I love about shooting weddings, is without a doubt being present on such a special and unique day in a person’s life. It’s not often that I find myself trying to not let my emotions get in the way of shooting, because you know… it gets a little difficult to keep shooting if your eyes are filled with tears. But even if not all weddings are the same, because weddings reflect the people who are there, emotion is always present.

To see two families and so many friends there together to celebrate those two person’s lives and the love that bonds them is indeed beautiful. It’s not corny, nor tacky, it is what it is. And I’ll never be convinced by anyone that weddings are just a convention, or just something done on a whim. As our lives are so fast-paced, we need to stop and celebrate the good things happening around us, may these things be huge or just small things.

The other amazing thing is to get to know more and more about my country – Portugal. Though we are quite small, there are still so many places I am yet to explore. So I was quite happy when this wedding landed on my lap, it would be on Herdade da Cortesia, a fabulous place in Avis, during summer, with everything that one could expect: beautiful colours, a very typical sunset and a very hot day!
