São Lourenço do Barrocal is a magical place in the heart of Alentejo, Portugal. Surrounded by stunning landscapes and serene nature, this location combines rural elegance with an exclusive and welcoming atmosphere. With a history dating back centuries, it offers the perfect setting for intimate weddings and special events, where the beauty of the surroundings blends with the charm of its traditional architecture.
I’ve known Sílvia and Pedro since 2017, and they’ve become another family that I’ve had the privilege of capturing over the years. I photographed the first pregnancy, the second one, which turned out to be a surprise proposal, a small photo shoot after their civil ceremony and now it was finally time for the wedding celebration with friends and family. After some back-and-forth with their plans, they decided to get married at São Lourenço do Barrocal, and I can tell you I was absolutely thrilled when Sílvia confirmed the location. By that time, I had already heard so much about this place and really wanted to visit, but to be able to photograph it for such an intimate wedding like theirs was incredible. There would be just over 20 people, and I already knew some of them from being part of the surprise proposal. The chosen vendors were all highly regarded and well-known for their quality, so this day had everything to be incredibly beautiful!
