This couple photoshoot in Madrid was one of the earliest I did and one of the things I love the most about early morning photo sessions is seeing the city before it fully wakes up. It won't be empty, because the city functions on the work of thousands who start even before sunrise, but there is a special energy in the air.
While many visitors head straight to the busiest landmarks, the quieter streets surrounding Gran Vía can be just as charming. As the morning light begins to fill the city (note the lights that are still on) and the cafés prepare to open their doors, there is a calm atmosphere that feels completely different from the energy Madrid is known for later in the day... and also so much fresher!
This couple was visiting Madrid to celebrate a special milestone together and wanted to capture a few memories from their trip. We spent the morning wandering through the streets around Gran Vía, stopping wherever the light caught our attention and embracing the urban character of the city. The architecture is something I can never get enough of in this city, I'm pretty sure I give myself away as a foreigner living here, because I walk for hours with my camera alone looking up!
What I love about sessions like this is that they don't need a proposal, an engagement, or a major life event to be meaningful. Sometimes the best reason to book a photo session is simply to remember a place and a season of life you enjoyed together.
Madrid offers so many different backdrops beyond its parks and gardens, and this session was a wonderful reminder of how beautiful the city centre can be in the soft light of an early morning.
Planning a trip to Madrid with your partner?
Whether you're celebrating an anniversary, a honeymoon, an engagement, or simply enjoying a few days together, a photo session is a wonderful way to remember your time in the city.
From the elegant streets around Gran Vía to the peaceful corners of Retiro Park, Madrid offers countless beautiful locations for natural and relaxed photographs that tell the story of your trip.
If you're visiting Madrid and would love to document your time here, I'd be delighted to help you plan your couple's photo session.
